El año repetido (primer episodio de la trilogía Buenaventura del dramaturgo chileno Luis Alberto Heiremans), es la obra que ha motivado a esta compañía formada por estudiantes de la escuela de Teatro de la Universidad de Chile para su primer montaje teatral como Teatro de Gerónimo.

La obra narra la historia de Antonio y Rea, dos desdichados que comparten la noche de año nuevo en Valparaíso durante la década del 60’. La historia de sus respectivas vidas, desentraña historias de amor incomprendido, de cómo el hombre se acostumbra a esperar sentado que la vida se le pase por delante.

El fortuito encuentro esa noche de año nuevo los hace acompañarse, pero como cita el texto: “los años no vuelven… se repiten”, y como tal, arrastran, más encima, la escoria de los años anteriores, volviendo la vida un terreno de máxima infelicidad y resignada a la sobrevivencia de los fuego artificiales que ya sonarán marcando un nuevo año.

Antonio Campos es actor de formación en la escuela de Teatro de la Universidad de Chile. Buenaventura I: El año repetido es su primer trabajo como director de su compañía Teatro de Gerónimo. La experiencia de dirección viene de la experiencia actoral que ha tenido en diversos montajes como Roberto Zucco y Variaciones sobre la muerte con Víctor Carrasco.

Teatro de Gerónimo se forma el 2012 con la intención de rescatar el trabajo del dramaturgo chileno Luis Alberto Heiremans, imponiéndose el desafío de montar la trilogía Buenaventura. La primera parte fue estrenada el primer semestre del 2012 en SIDARTE con gran éxito de público y crítica, quedando seleccionada para el Festival Santiago a Mil. Actualmente la compañía prepara el proyecto de montaje de la segunda parte de la trilogía, llamada El mar en la muralla. Los integrantes de Teatro de Gerónimo se conocieron durante su formación en la Escuela de Teatro de la Universidad de Chile. Buenaventura I: El año repetido es su primer trabajo.

El año repetido (the first installment of Chilean playwright Luis Alberto Heiremans’ Buenaventura trilogy) inspired the first production staged by Teatro de Gerónimo, a company formed by students at the Universidad de Chile’s School of Theater.

The work tells the tale of Antonio and Rea, two unlucky souls who spend New Year’s night together in Valparaíso during the 1960s. Their different life stories bring out tales of love without understanding, of how man becomes accustomed to sitting still as life goes by.

That fortuitous New Year’s Eve encounter brings the two together, but as the text has it, “the years do not return… they are repeated”, and as such, they drag along the leftovers of past years, with life once again becoming a land of limitless unhappiness, resigned to the survival of the fireworks that are already welcoming the new year.

Antonio Campos trained as an actor at the Universidad de Chile’s School of Theater. Buenaventura I: El año repetido is his first work as the director of the Teatro de Gerónimo company. Antonio’s directing is inspired by his experience acting in a wide range of productions, such as Roberto Zucco and Variaciones sobre la muerte with Víctor Carrasco.

Teatro de Gerónimo was founded in 2012 with the aim of rescuing the works of Chilean playwright Luis Alberto Heiremans, taking on the challenge of staging the Buenaventura trilogy. The first of these productions was staged in early 2012 at SIDARTE, to great critical and public acclaim, and was selected for the Santiago a Mil Festival. The company is now working on its production of the third installment of the trilogy, El mar en la muralla. The members of the Teatro de Gerónimo company met while training at the Universidad de Chile’s School of Theater. Buenaventura I: El año repetido is their first work production.
